Promote Volunteerism Every Day

It’s been just over one month since International Volunteer Managers’ Day and it’s time for another celebration!  Yesterday was International Volunteer Day; this day was adopted by the United Nations general Assembly in 1985 and, since then, groups all over the world have joined in the efforts to make volunteering more visible on this day each year.

That’s why I’m so glad to be talking about International Volunteer Day one day after the officially designated day.  While I’m glad there’s this one day a year that celebrates and acknowledges volunteering worldwide, I move that we do so every day.  We have days and seasons of service, National Volunteer Week and Global Youth Service Day – and they each are wonderful events that help to promote volunteerism.  However, you and I know that we need volunteers every day.

So take a minute to learn more about International Volunteer Day , and then make sure to celebrate volunteerism each and every day.
