Ashia Moultrie is a Maryland native, born and raised in Prince George’s County. Ashia developed an interest in public service when she worked at the Prince George’s County Department of Environmental Resources, and she holds a Masters degree in Nonprofit Management from The New School in New York. As the Volunteer Maryland Coordinator with United Communities Against Poverty, Ashia wishes to gain experience that will lead to a career in volunteer management. In the long run, Ashia hopes to shine as a leader, and she sees this year as an important step in that direction.“The Volunteer Maryland Coordinator role is preparing me for a program management or director position at a nonprofit organization” she says. During her service year, Ashia will recruit, train and support volunteers at the Shepherd’s Cove Emergency Shelter for Women and Children.
