Jessica Paguirigan is a recent graduate of St. Mary’s College of Maryland, where she was instrumental in the growth of the Campus Community Farm, especially in terms of volunteer engagement. Jessica was also the first Community Service Outreach Fellow to permanently institutionalize the St. Mary’s Cares initiative, which started as a mission to improve campus relations with the non-campus community through service projects during April, which is National Volunteer Month. In addition, Jessica was a member of the St. Mary’s World Carnival Committee, the largest annual event on the campus, for three consecutive years. These experiences helped her develop her event planning and leadership skills and made her more confident in her ability to make a difference through volunteerism.
Jessica says that during her time at St. Mary’s, she was drawn to a life of service, and she sees her time with Volunteer Maryland as an opportunity to build on that life by serving with the Frederick County Department of Aging’s Meals on Wheels program.
Jessica is very excited to further develop her volunteer management skills and to make a difference for seniors in her community. She is confident that her experience as Volunteer Maryland Coordinator will help her define her career and graduate school goals.
