Nicole Myers, Volunteer Maryland Coordinator with Carroll County Forestry Board, is currently a master’s candidate at Johns Hopkins University in the Environmental Sciences and Policy program. Her passion for volunteering and conserving the environment began after college, when she volunteered at the National Aquarium , The Central Florida Zoo, The National Zoo, and with the Jane Goodall Insititute’s Roots & Shoots program in Tanzania. All of these positions fostered Nicole’s love of the environment and inspired her to continue her education in the field.
One of Nicole’s core beliefs is that the best way to make a difference is to spark the desire to do so in others. While serving with Volunteer Maryland, Nicole looks forward to improving public forested land in Carroll County by recruiting local community members not only to volunteer, but also to become truly invested in environmental stewardship.
This year, Nicole expects to gain practical work experience, important contacts in the environmental and service fields, and critical professional and leadership skills. She also knows that this position will provide excellent preparation for a career in environmental conservation.
