Valerie is an avid volunteer and involved community member whose responsibilities include membership in the Cecil County Ethics Commission. When Valerie learned about the opportunity to volunteer with Freedom Hills Therapeutic Riding Program, she saw it as a perfect opportunity to use her skills as a Physical Therapist Assistant. Freedom Hills specializes in helping individuals with disabilities through horseback riding, so it was, indeed, a great fit.
When Valerie was asked to consider applying for the Volunteer Maryland Coordinator position at Freedom Hills, she stepped up to the plate. “In addition to satisfying a desire to help improve the volunteer program, I applied because I needed to challenge myself, as well as learn new skills.” In particular, Valerie hopes to develop organizational and networking skills. Doing so, she says, will “broaden my marketability and enable me to more effectively serve my community.”
