Emmanuel is serving as Volunteer Coordinator at Senior Legal Services, which provides pro bono legal assistances to seniors living in Baltimore City.
After Emmanuel graduated from Towson University he applied to Volunteer Maryland and was selected by Senior Legal Services to be their new Volunteer Coordinator. His decision to serve with AmeriCorps was inspired by discussions with several AmeriCorps alumni, who spoke proudly of their service and the opportunities it provided them. In his first few months of service, Emmanuel has impressed his colleagues at Senior Legal Services with his calm demeanor, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn.
Emmanuel earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology and anthropology with a concentration in criminal justice. The field of law has always fascinated him, and one day, he hopes to work in the federal government, ideally in law enforcement. His work with Senior Legal Services is providing him with the skills and knowledge needed to make his hopes a reality.
Physically active, sometimes Emmanuel will spontaneously do something acrobatic. He enjoys Jujitsu and MMA for they are like chess, albeit with lot more exertion. Yes, he also plays chess. Due to a lifetime interest in Brazilian culture he is learning Brazilian Portuguese. He has a passion for all sorts of challenges, which was another motivation for him joining AmeriCorps.
